The meeting discussed mechanisms for implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry. The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation and share Jordan’s expertise in company registration and oversight, as well as develop electronic registration services.

The Syrian delegation was headed by Eng. Rasha Karkouki, Assistant Minister of Economy and Industry for Internal Trade, and included a number of directors and specialists from both sides.

During the meeting, Dr. Wael Al-Armouti, Controller General of Companies, emphasised that Jordan’s experience in company registration and oversight is the result of a gradual development process focused on simplifying procedures, advancing electronic services, and improving service efficiency for investors and the business sector. These efforts align with Jordan’s objectives of improving the business environment and strengthening confidence in regulatory and supervisory procedures.

The Companies Control Department presented key aspects of its experience in company registration and regulation, particularly the automation of registration services, amendments and filings, enhanced integration and data exchange with relevant entities, and reduced reliance on paper-based requirements, thereby facilitating the customer journey.

Al-Armouti noted that the Department follows a continuous development approach that integrates digital transformation with legislative and procedural modernisation and stronger corporate governance, ensuring sustainable services and greater readiness to meet the demands of the modern business environment.

For its part, the Syrian delegation presented an overview of the operations of the Companies Directorate in Syria, including company registration procedures, the systems in use, and ongoing plans for development and digital transformation.

The meeting forms part of efforts to implement the Memorandum of Understanding, strengthen the exchange of technical and administrative expertise between the two sides, and explore practical ways to benefit from Jordan’s experience in improving company registration services and simplifying procedures for investors.
