Dr. Wael Al-Armouti, Controller General of Companies, reaffirmed the Companies Control Department’s commitment to streamlining and expediting procedures for information and communications technology (ICT) companies to enhance the business and investment environment.

During a specialised workshop organised by the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), to discuss classifying companies’ business activities under the Jordan Standard Industrial Classification (JORSIC), Al-Armouti announced that the Department is ready to process ICT companies’ activity classification requests within one working day of submission through the company’s electronic account.

He emphasised the Department’s commitment to simplifying procedures, accelerating transaction processing, and reducing costs and processing time for companies.

Al-Armouti explained that the Department continues to update and refine companies’ registered business activities in line with JORSIC, keeping pace with the rapid developments in the ICT sector. He noted that the classification can be reviewed and further developed in cooperation with public-sector entities and the private sector to accommodate emerging technological activities and business models.

He urged companies to select business activities that accurately reflect their actual operations and avoid adding unnecessary activities that may require additional approvals or regulatory requirements. He also noted that companies can update their registered activities in accordance with the approved classification while completing any other transaction with the Department.

The workshop featured specialised discussions on ICT activities and the challenges companies face in selecting the appropriate classifications. The Department heard feedback and proposals from company representatives and explored ways to develop the classification of business activities in line with the sector’s ongoing evolution.

Representing the Companies Control Department alongside the Controller General, Mr. Adel Al-Hayari, Director of Filings and Amendments, provided the necessary technical and procedural clarifications regarding activity classification mechanisms and update requirements.

The workshop forms part of the Department’s approach to strengthening partnerships and direct engagement with the private sector, listening to its feedback, and improving services and procedures to create a more flexible and efficient regulatory environment that supports company growth and business sustainability.
