Meeting with the Comptroller General of Companies to discuss key developments in the work of the Companies Control Department, its role in strengthening the business environment and corporate governance, and its efforts to enhance the services provided to companies.

Dr. Wael Al-Armouti, Companies General Controller, affirmed the Companies Control Department’s commitment to facilitating and expediting procedures for companies operating in the information and communications technology sector, contributing to a more supportive business and investment environment. He made the remarks during a specialized workshop organized by int@j to discuss mechanisms for classifying the business activities of ICT companies under the Jordanian Standard Industrial Classification of Economic Activities (JORSIC), as well as key challenges and observations related to the classification and updating of business activities.

Dr. Al-Armouti confirmed that the Department is prepared to process requests submitted by ICT companies to classify their business activities within one business day of submitting the request through the company’s electronic account. He emphasized the Department’s commitment to simplifying procedures, expediting transactions, and reducing the time and costs incurred by companies.

He noted that the Department continues to update and align companies’ business activities with JORSIC, in line with the rapid developments taking place in the ICT sector. He further highlighted that the classification can be reviewed and developed in cooperation with relevant public-sector entities and the private sector to ensure that it keeps pace with emerging activities and technology-driven business models.

Dr. Al-Armouti called on companies to select business activities that accurately reflect their actual operations and avoid adding unnecessary activities that may require additional approvals or regulatory requirements. He also noted that companies may use any transaction submitted to the Department as an opportunity to update their business activities in accordance with the approved classification.

The workshop featured a specialized discussion on the nature of ICT sector activities, and the challenges companies face in selecting the appropriate classifications for their business activities. The Department heard feedback and recommendations from company representatives, and discussions focused on ways to further develop the classification of business activities in line with the sector’s continued evolution.

Representing the Companies Control Department alongside the Companies General Controller was Mr. Adel Al-Hayari, Director of Deposits and Amendments, who provided the necessary technical and procedural clarifications regarding the classification of business activities and the requirements for updating them.

The workshop forms part of the Companies Control Department’s approach to strengthening partnership and direct communication with the private sector, listening to its feedback, and continuously improving its services and procedures to provide a more flexible and efficient regulatory environment that supports business growth and sustainability.
